This paper presented here deals with the effect efficiency in fruitfulness of control pollination among different cultivars. The data obtanied in this Study indicates that most of olive cultivars exhibit low fruit setting as selfpollination. But fruitfulness can be obtained if optimum pollinators are used. Cross pollination between different cultivars varied on fruit setting which shows a difference in cross-compatibility.It was noted however, there is non-relationship between germination rate of pollen on stigma and cross-compatibility.The effects of reciprocal cross in most of olive cultivars are different only a few of them appeare to be similarly.Therefor it is necessary to screen the results of reciprocal cross between various cultivars. To identify cross-compatibility of most cultivars grown in same region and find out better pollinators for new olive plantation cross test in large scale are needed.Based on Statistical analysis of data obtained cross-comhinations between cultivars planted now in Chenggu county can be divided into four groups having different level of CROSS-compatibility(from the best to bad). Thus,to establish olive plantation in Chenggu region must select the cultivars from the best and better groups as a major cultivar and pollinator that will give more promise to maintain the production of olive plantations at a high level.

The transpiration variation in space and time in a young poplar plantation(Populus deltoides Bartr.cv.‘Lux’ex.I-69/55)was studied in 1983—1984 for the purpose of inquiring into the relationship between transpiration water-consumption and growth in young poplar plantation so as to provide an evidenee for rational irrigation. The research has revealed that the transpiration of abaxial surface is higher than that of adaxial;the transpiration rates of different position on identical leaf surface are Similar;there is a fluetuaring movement in transpiration rate along an ordinal leayes of a branch;the transpiration is higher in low layer of crown, medium in middle layer and lower in the upper layer;the daily transpiration process(sunny day)forms a curve with a peak at about 10 am.;the seasonal fluctuation of transpiration is as follow:transpiration is higher in early spring, then goes down, rises in the autumn and goes down again by the end of growing season.A formula for estimation of crown transpiration water-consumption has been determined according to the analysis of the factors influencing transpiration in space and time and meteorological factors, and the transpiration water-consumption of crown was estimated by use of the formula.

This Paper is on the basis of the data from the table of standgrowth about main timber-tree species in China,to count the tree-number of stand density about different tree pecies forest-types site-classes and different mean diatmeter.Classes;Meanwhile,to courtt the tree-number reserve coeffieient(L)after Stand natural-thinning,the coefficient(L)equals the ratio that a digger diameter class comDares with a smaller diameter class. The coefficient(L)has the following law:(1)when density of stoeking is 1.0,L will increasea Iong with the increasing of stand rilean diameter.L is not a fixed ratio;(2)when density of stocking is 1.0 and stand mean diameter equals tree spacing, the L of the same tree species and different forest-type and site-class is very close each other or equal.TeSting and verifying shows L of the tree species in our country is basicallyclose or eaual. This law will provide some mportant data for forestimprovement-cutting.Srand technical mature, and growth forecast.

These studies were carried out at the Institute of Silviculture University of Freiburg, the Federal Republic of Germany from 1983- 1984.In a 19 years-old Picea abies stand, four trees chosen at random for the test. The tes t shoots were obtained from the 2nd,4th, fith and 7th crown layers of these four test trees.Under the constant conditions, the needle gas exchange was measured in annual shoots(1983)and two years—old shoots(1982).Here are the main results. The foilowing data is drRWll from the shoots of the 2nd and 7th crowll layer. The 2nd crowll layer indicate the upper part of the crown, while the 7th indieaters the lower part of the crown. The needle photosynthetic capacity decreased as the crown increased. There Wa Sadecrea.Se of 20.4—27.8,in the annual shoots and of 40.5—47.9%in the two years—old shoots. However, the ratio of needle water loss in—creased as the CROWR layers increased.IN the annual shoot,it increased by 4.8—23.7%,38.8—61.5%respectively.The intensity of needle dark respiration also increased as the crown layers increased. It increased by 5.8—10.9%in the annual shoots and by 3.5一l7.3%in the two years-old shoots. The photosynthetic economic coefficient changed in the same way aS the needle photosynthetic capacity did.It dereased by 10——26%in the annual shoots and by 44——了1%in the two years—old shoots

Mr.Cheng Zichun’s paper of“A Study on the Management- Calculation Diagranl of Pinus massoniana in Hunan”was published in “Forest Science”,No.1,1984.The meth'od and base of compilinging standard table in author’S paper are mainly discus sed in this paper.By means of comparing the breast height form factor (f1.3)and the experimental form factar(fa) contained in the standard table (the whole name calls“the Standard Table of Basal Area and Volume of Per Hectare Stand”)which the author compiled for his Calculation-diagram with those of the Central-South Pinus massoniana Standard Table which was often used in the past,by testing with real volume of sample plots,we found that because the base of that table and the compiling method are not reasonable the author's standard table will bring about greater error than the real volume of Stand,or that of Central-South Standard Table when it is used to estimate the volume of stand, meantime, the error goes greatly beyond the permitted limit,so we think that it is not Suitable for use in practice.

Larix potaninii Batalin is the conmon larch of the sub-alpine zone in wes tern Sichuan and south Gansu Provinces, colloquially it is known as the“red 1arch”(hong sha).Being deciduous this larch is better adapted to cold and dry climates than spruces alld firs.As the altitute increases the larch forests become more and more abundant until finally in the upper edge of forest zone.Being highly intolerant, this larch Can not compete successfully with spruces, firs, and other trees under.Moisture condition within the forest.Zone.So that the forestry nature of larch forest is quite different from that of other conifers. This paper deals with red larch forest which contains five sections,namely:1.The. Distribution and habit;2.The Strueture, growth and productivity of stand;3.The forest types;4.The dynamics of succession;5.The forest management.

The theory of quantification is useful in many subjects. It is necessary to demarcate quantitative variables into category properlu before an application of theory of quantification to solving any problem. The paper illustrated the using of sequntial clustering in order to denarcate quantitative uariable optimally. Itoffers an effective means of division of quantitative variable into category.
