Abstract: Pinus massoniana is one of the main conifers indigenous to china. The analysis of variance indicates there is a significant difference (a=0.01) among wood pH values of different height within a trunk and among the trees. On an average, its wood pH value is 5.33, and total buffering capacity is 2.33. This report also includes regression analyses for pH variation of wood extract solution with respect to adding nominal 0.0250N sulfuric acid or sodium hydroxide solution.
