Abstract: Forestry spatial information issuance (FSII) is the important component of digital forestry project. In this paper,the software framework of the FSII system based on web service techniques was introduced and the key points of developing the FSII Web service were discussed,including client state management,the complexity of Web service method and the asynchronous execution of Web service. The functions of Web service FSII were also discussed and divided into sub-services: metadata searahing,spatial information inquiring,map displaying,spatial data management and spatial data downloading etc. A Web service prototype for FSII was developed under.NET platform,and the performance test showed a good efficiency.
