Abstract:

The leaf abaxial epidermis micromorphologic characters of Liriodendron reciprocal cross hybrids and parents were observed under scanning electron microscope (SME).The results are as follows :Liriodendron chinense (Hemsl.) Sarg.and minus crossing F₁ have obviously papillar cell in abaxial epidermis, that of L.tulipifera Linn.and plus crossing F₁ is flat. Stomatal density of L.tulipifera Linn.and plus crossing F₁ are much denser than that of L.chinense (Hemsl.) Sarg.and minus crossing F₁.There are no significant differences in abaxial epidermal waxy ornamentation and stomatal apparatus form between hybrids and parents.Reciprocal cross hybrids have larger stomatal apparatus opening than parents′.
